Architecture preview #1

1. Who is the architect (the person who built it)?
2. When was it built?
3. Where is it located?
4. Is it a private building or can you visit it?
5. Is there information on how much it cost to build?
6. Is there a reason the building was created or the history of the building itself?
7. Why did you pick this building? (write at least a paragraph on this question)

The Kunsthaus Graz
#1. Colin Fournier
#2. 1997
#3. Graz Austria
#4. Museum
#5. $50,000,000
#6. Its been a project since 1960, however was put to hold by government. Later in 1997 their was permission for construction, and from the enthusiasm of Colin Fournier the building was constructed.
#7. I picked this building, because this is the only one out of the one offered that was very circular without any straight, or very little straight surfaces. In addition i like were the building is positioned. In the background you can see simple houses in front of which is a vast construction with very unique design.

Burj Al arab
#1. Atkins
#2. 1994-1999
#3. Dubai
#4. It is a public Hotel
#5. $7.8 billion
#6. This building was built as the most expensive hotel in the world, and as one of the main attractions in Dubai.
#7. I chose this building because it is one of the most expensive hotels in the world. And that in about 50 years this building might be under water. In addition it is insanely hard to build on a small unstable island.

Deacon sculptured house

#1. Charles Deaton
#2. 1963
#3. Colorado
#4. 1973- Comedian building. 1999-present somebodies house.
#5. 5.1 million
#6. This building original purpose served as a comedian place. Though now it is a private house bought for 2.7 million.
#7. I picked this building because of its original design and shape. I have never seen anything close to this, and i think it is cool that it can hold a massive amount of flowing water. Every spring from the snow. In addition has a beautiful mountain view.

Norddeutsche Landesbank
#1. Behnisch father, Behnisch son
#2. 2002
#3 Hannover Germany
#4 Commercial bank
#5. Cost restricted
#6. The building was built to be a bank.
#7. I chose this building because i like the original design. And it is hard to imagine how much thought was put in as far as balance and construction goes. I have never seen a building in this style neither in life or on the internet.

Cube Houses

#1. Piet Blom
#2. 1977
#3. Rotterdam Netherlands
#4. Civilians Houses
#5. $233 euro per cubic meter
#6. These houses were built as houses.
#7. I chose these because i find it very interesting that these houses with such design were built for serving one purpose of houses. After doing some deeper research i figured that per one slanted box their are the stories. In addition like wise the other building i have never seen anything similar to this in my life.

Sensory overload preview assignment

1. I agree with this last statement, and as for photography i believe that a lot of people go to places around the world with the camera in front of their face all of the time instead of absorbing the different environment, their should be a balance.

2. I did not have any wanting to go with my camera, i believe that it is to repetitive and i would be exhausted after just several minutes.

3. I think it would be pretty miserable for a child who works their. Always loud and nothing to do.

4. I like the one where a mother while no one is in the store is helping her daughter with what appears to be homework.

The dispatch

New tables in the hallways foster students community

The comity talks about how after the receiving of chrome books, chargers were under high demand and more places to sit. Because of this at the Bowie campus at the end of the first semester, the AISD district bought for bowie dozens of tables that are active being used in the school. "It's giving the students more options than just sitting on the floor. We have shortage of seating, so we wanted to give them more options". Personally for me the first sentence wasn't very convincing for me to want to keep reading it.

Bikers race across the state for competition

This article talks about the bowie mountain bike team, from what it takes to be part of it and what it creates as a whole. The focus is based on three year varsity rider Austin Buttler, The article has several pictures of riding experiences and has a lot of information to take in about the team itself and what the sport is about aside from racing and riding.

Russia's banned from winter olympics

The article talks about how Russia was proved of using doping for the past two olympics, and there for banned from raising its flag at the new olympics though not from competing. They state how Russia was proven to be using doping. It says that I IOC should have long ago banned Russia from the olympics and tooken this in consideration that they were doping. "From now one Russians will be directly associated with doping" and will not be recognized as Russia at the olympics but OAR.

Photography:

Page 7-
1. The photo labeled as Being MRS. Banks. I believe that the lightning is not at its best, the impact of the photo on the page is showing a moment of a direct marry popping from the show. The rules of photography that apply include balance and rule of thirds. The main subject is marry Poppins and the photo i believe was exposed to the best of its capability but could be better,

2. The photo labeled as STEP IN TIME. I think that the lightning turned out really good, it adds a little humor to the page and impacts the story by introducing one of the characters. The rules of composition that apply are rule of thirds. The main subject is Eric Larson. And i believe that the photo is exposed really well.

3. The photo labeled as BECOMING MARY. The photo has decent lightning though it could be better. The photo affects the article by showing one of the characters during rehearsal of Marry Poppins. I do not see much rules of composition that apply to this photo. The main subject is marry Poppins. The photo is exposed perfectly. I can not see depth of field.

Page 16
1. The photo labeled as JUST A TRIM. I really like this photo because of the lightning and how it captures a moment very good affecting the article. Rules of composition that are included are rule of thirds, the main subject is the pot. The photo is exposed properly. And the depth of field is not present.

2. The photo labeled as GETTING TECHNICAL. I like this photo primary because of the lightning. Though i believe it could be better. It shows the position of the hands during the process. Directly effecting the article showing the process. There are not any composition rules present, and the main subject seems to be the hands. The photo was exposed properly.

3. The photo labeled UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL. This photo is my favorite on the page, expressing how much attention needs to be payed for a good result. The lightning is perfect. And adds a sense of persistency to the page. The rule of thirds if present and the main subject is the person working. The photo in my opinion was exposed perfectly.

I really like the photo labeled SPEEDING ALONG TRAILS. I like it because the sense of speed is very clear. And there is balance very well expressed.

I don't like the photo A COMMUTE INTERRUPTED. I dislike it because of how it isn't very clear about what the point was. Either the cars, the light, or the sign. The only possible rule could be rule of thirds.

I would have enjoyed doing the biking one, because i am personally one of the top riders on the team. I have many close connections and really enjoy doing photography at all the races and hold a camera at all moments.

I think that the overall photography in the issue was pretty good. I liked how it was very widely spread though still staying in one topic.
