What i learned- I learned that there are crazy good photos out there.

This site related to photography because it had a lot of great photos, sadly i wasn't able to get them onto this screen...

THE OLDEST LIVING THINGS IN THE WORLD

http://www.rachelsussman.com/oltw/
What i read- In this article i read that there is a photographer Rachel Sussman who is different from others, in a main point that she does both science and photography. Her main point of photography is taking photos of the oldest thing in the world.

The Disorienting Beauty of Spiral Staircases in Old Abandoned Buildings

https://petapixel.com/2014/12/19/disorienting-beauty-spiral-staircases-old-abandoned-buildings/

What i Read/ Learned- Reading this short yet descriptive passage i learned that there was a guy who lived in Germany, who liked to go to abounded buildings and look at the staircases. And when he got into the world of photography he started taking photos of them, and it turned out to be a disordering beauty.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Photo- I picked this photo because i find it to be very disordering, and trips. It is hard to tell if you are looking down or up. I also like the way that the actual building is in very good condition, judging by the rails in comparison to the railings.

Rules- In this photo there are several rules of photography leading lines, framing and filling the frame.

6 Types of Photos Every Photographer Should Know How to Make

https://petapixel.com/2014/12/01/6-types-photos-know-make/

What I read? In this article i read about how to make different types of photos. These included how to make Fake tilt photos, Forced perspective, Exposure, Digital inferred, Double exposure and a Polor Panorama. It talked about the science behind what i should know when taking these photos, and what type of equipment is preferably needed.

What i learned that was new? Out of the new things i learned, i got a brief understanding of what type of science is behind taking these types of photos, and the science behind taking such a photo.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Photo- I picked the photo above, because i like to personally take these type of perspective photos, and i show a lot of respect to those who take these type of photos, because i understand how hard it is to take one like such.

Rules- The rules of photography that are in this photo include, leading lines and balance

Cover types

Most often when we look at a magazine cover, we just scan through the picture and maybe read a couple words, and thats it. Not many people suspect that their is a whole science behind covers, different ways to present the covers in text, images, drawings and all of these combined. Though this is not mainly what it is called. There are four different types of ways the magazine authors present their magazine covers. Starting off with image based covers. In these covers the subject is taken by a camera, most often it is of a person who is looking directly to the camera who is trying to sell off a product, most often celebrities do this. Often also the person is looking off the camera dragging the attention of the reader off the page. Overall the image type based cover is all based around taking a photo of an somebody. Also in covers there is a Illustration based cover this means that the cover of the journal is drawn by hand or on a computer. People do this to draw unrealistic things or somethings that are hard to take a picture off, or at last add a sense of craftsman ship. The third type of cover post is called a type based cover. In this type of cover the cover consist only of words with a bold background. In these types of covers the author tries to make the author read the cover to get a sense of what is inside the journal, and at last there is a combination of all of these, this is called a concept based cover. It is were the is a combination of hand drawn items, pictures and words. This is the type of cover that you will see on most covers. At last possibly the hardest thing to do for and author of a journal is to make the connection of the picture and words match, form first perspective it seems easy to do, but if you try it, it isn't so. This is important because if your picture is of a soccer player and the words say "how to drive a car?" that would make no sense. So the author tries to tie the photo and words together. For example showing a soccer player and write about that "adidas cleats make you faster" then this would make sense and drag attention to people who like soccer. The only case were the author of the cover might use completely unrelated words to the image, is if the author is trying to communicate different topics from the journal.

My Favorite Cover

Sports Illustrated, April 22, BOSTON

"At approximately 3:10 on the afternoon of April 15, 2013, the editors of Sports Illustrated returned from their Monday meeting to rumors of a terrorist act near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. With fewer than four hours until Si's weekly deadline, producing a definitive news account of what happened was impossible. Was there, however, an image that captured the afternoon's chaos, its tragedy, in addition to a city's capacity for resilience and goodness in the face of such terror? Yes, there was, dozens of images, in fact. By 4:30 p.m., half an hour ahead of the magazine's usual cover deadline, (Read More)

I really like this cover post because its easy to tell what the main topic is going to be about, and the cover adds a sense of action attracting people without even having them reading anything yet. I also like this photo because it includes several different types of composition rules and portraits. It is a environmental portrait because it shows the cops with there uniform on and doing their job. It is also a formal portrait showing the cops in their formal costumes. And it is a informal portrait showing the runner who was nocked down or was laying down for safety who was dressed in a informal costume. For the rules of composition this photo shows a very good sense of balance. Drawing several different lines. First off comparing the two running cop. And the dark uniforms of the cops in contrast of the uniform of the runner. Also there is quite a bit of lines in the photo. If not paying attention to the words the buildings in the background make leading lines to the main subject the people. And with that there is framing form the buildings. The action communicated by the photo is the cops running to help people and figure were is the terrorist. It is clear that it is a shot that was taken several minutes after the bomb going off.

3. I learned that aside from the photo the photograph considered himself very lucky to be in the right seat and the right time, also the photograph is a professional sports photograph.

Conclusion
1. I think that it should not be acceptable to alter a person in such a dramatic way, it is okay to alter the lighting using levels or to crop and image, though i think that it is unsuitable and rude to alter somebodies body so much.
2.  When somebody starts working out, before that they take a photo of themselves being fat and when they are done working out after a year to see how much they have changed.
3. The changed that are okay include lightning using levels, cropping and changing the exposures and the colors "from color to black and white."
4. In photo journalism you record history and in fashion photography you try to get people to buy your item by making your cover more attractive.
5. There are two main types of photography in my opinion, one is recording history including nature, family, history and others are used as advertising to sell a product.
6. I think you showed us these three videos so we can see what is possible with photography and photoshop.
7. I think that none of the videos are about guys because guys can't be changed as much as girls.

Portrait intro

Tip number 1--  5. Move Your Subject Out of their Comfort Zone
Tip number 2--  1. Alter Your Perspective

Environmental Portraits
I like this photo because of how the guitars make a frame around the guy who's clearly into guitars, making it his natural environment.

I like this photo because there is an aspect of balance, and the guy didn't know that he was being shot making it and even better photo.

Photography Self portrait
I like this photo because of how the subject stands out from everything else. It also gives a relaxed emotion.
I like this photo because of the framing of the column and roof. It also shows a happy emotion.

Casual portrait
I like this photo because of how the background is blurred though still adds a good sense of background.
I like this photo because of how the boy didn't know that he was being shot, or at least it looks like that.

Plans for shooting- I plan on making several photos. For natural environment i want to take a photo of my dad in his office working. To make this photo successful i will try to add more light due to the fact that his office is relatively dark. For a casual portrait i want to take of my picture weaving in her room. To make this photo successful i will try to sneak up on her when she doesn't know, because she generally likes posting but it looks better when its not. And for self portrait if will either take a picture of myself in my studio with my guitars, or me taking a jump or wheeling on my bike. To make this photo successful i will put it on the ten photo format to make sure that one image would turn out good.

A. I think that the most powerful image is the one that is labeled as Basic training didn't begin to prepare Ian Fisher for military life.

B. The images work together to show a story by making a story showing all the hardships and happy moments that Ian experienced, putting together his story from the U.S army.

C. The captions enhance the photographs by explaining what is happening in the photos, because not in all photos its clear what is happening.

D. Fisher was enrolled in the army in June 2007, at the time he was 17 years old. For a while he was having trouble in the army and at home, not being connected to either place, though later in the future he started having more friends in the army. Through training Fisher had a fun playful experience though he did learn. Later on they were put on a raid as a test. And the commander stated that half of the team would be killed. The ones that would have been killed had to leave though fisher and 3 others stayed in training. Soon after that he was issued a blue medal for completion of training. After months of training he got moved back to his home town and was an hour away from his friends and they vouched to see him. Fisher was later caught smoking after training and was forced for a punishment of pushups which he completed with success, sit-ups and a 2 mile run which he wasn't able to do. Later he had a week home were he bought an engagement ring for his girlfriend though wasn't going to propose until christmas in front of family. Later his drug problem got bigger, and he had a meeting with his father, it turned out that he broke up with his girl friend and says that that was one of the reasons. Closer to the end of his carrier Ian flew to Iraq to fight.

E. Present tense.

F. 1- On average they are 3 sentences long.
2- The first sentence usually provides the main information of the photo.
3- The second sentence usually provides information about the photo which is not obvious when looking at the photo.
4- The third sentence usually provides a quote.
    5- Yes
    6- Yes

G. Because If you have a photo then it shows the action and the caption tells you what is happening

H. You would bother to write just a story because and story usually comes with more detailed information and all the events leading up to each other.

Abandoned theme parks

11. Out of all amusement parks i would have visited the Holy land park. It caught my attention because it could have a long story. Being able for me to go take photos there as of this moment and catch the seeds of how it looks right now and who lives there. And right the stories of the park, the murder, gangs etc. And i could have taken another set of pictures in several more years due to the fact that the park was bought from the gangs and is currently being under reconstruction and they want to build a new amusement park.

2.
3. An interest to a photographer would be an abandoned city, abandoned underwater anything, abandoned park, Luisiana, because it will probably be underwater in 20 years.

4.
5. A underwater would be an interesting documentation seen because people don't know about them and most people have never seen them, and in general not much is known about them.

6. The only equipment i would need is a suitcase my close, scuba diving suit, water proof camera.

Africa

1. I read about a photographer who went into Africa to get pictures of animals in their natural environment. I was surprised about how patient the photographer was with the photos, waiting 17 days to capture a photo of the lion. That sounds like an achievement. Nether the less the photos he took were pretty impressive, about how close he was able to get to some of the animals.

2.

3. I really like this photo not only because of the content but also because of respect to the photographer for sitting there 17 days waiting for a perfect shot. I like this photo because of how good the lightning is and the simplicity of the photo.

4. Rule of thirds, the lion is in the middle left segment of the photo. Avoiding merges, no body limbs are cut off. Simplicity, the subject is clear.

5. The camera lens that Nick Brandt uses is a Pentax 67 camera lens which he modified. This is important to his photos because it creates a soft focus and a tilt shift effect.

6. His reason for taking these photos is to take pictures of animals in Africa in their natural environment and condition. Also he hopes to persuade people not to kill these animals and try to keep them alive, because THEY ARE SLOWLY DIEING OFF!

7. His hope for taking these photos is to persuade people not to kill these animals and try to keep them alive. And to keep memory of them.

8. In 2005 ivory cost $400 a kilogram. Today, it is $6,000 a kilo. As a result, about 10 percent of Africa's elephant population is killed every year, about 30,000 elephants a year.
